Syria and it’s allied nation Russia accused Washington of planning some sort of “provocation” in Syria. This would be accused of being the fault of President Bashar Assad’s government and use of chemical weapons to justify offensive action.
A statement by the official news agency, Syria’s Foriegn Ministry said it denies the United States allegations of it’s involvement in chemical weapons. They were referred to as “misleading” and “completely baseless.”
The objective stated behind these allegations was initiated to “justify a new aggresion on Syria under ill-founded pretexts.” This is much alike to the occurrence in April when the U.S. struck a Syrian air base, which was proclaimed to have been used in staging a chemical attack that killed almost 90 people in the town of Khan Sheikhoun.
The White House warned earlier in the week that Assad is preparing for yet another chemical attack. It made a statement saying that the Syrian President will “pay a heavy price” should he decide to carry it out.
Also Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow has received information that Syrian rebels have already fabricated video materials to accuse Damascus of a chemical attack.
On Thursday, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow has attained Intel that Syrian rebels have already created fraudulent propaganda videos to accuse Damascus of a chemical attack.
Russia’s proposed reaction to a U.S. attack on Syria was noted in a statement as “proportionate.”
The results of this are still coming to the surface on a day by day basis. For now it seems as if it is a stalemate. We don’t know for sure what Syria is planning. For the most part, chemical weapons are a serious matter, with weapons such as a simple concoction of mustard gas being prohibited by the Geneva Convention.
To involve any chemical weapon, whether glamorizing it via propaganda or literally involving it in an attack becomes a serious international offense. If this proposed plan actually takes place in any form, there is no doubt something will stir up in the United States.
Up to this point, all rumors and fabrications remain under investigation, but have had no actions taken in regards to them.
